New Defibrillator – Greenacre Hall

Photograph of the new defibrilator on the Greenacre Hall

We are pleased to announce that the Parish Council has now arranged for a new second defibrillator which has been installed on the outside of the Greenacre Hall (What3Words:///dizzy.impresses.hockey).

This has been provided by the London Hearts Charity with matched funding, and installation costs, paid by the Parish Council.

We, obviously, hope it is never needed, but if it is, it is now fully available and registered with the Ambulance Service.

As with any defibrillator, once you have dialled 999, the Ambulance call handler will tell you if it is needed, where your nearest appliance is and will give you the access code.

Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Result

The Drayton Parslow Parish Council is delighted to announce that our community has voted in favor of the Neighbourhood Plan. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to vote.

With a majority “YES” vote, the Drayton Parslow Neighbourhood Plan officially becomes part of the development plan effective 25 October 2024. This statutory planning document will guide Buckinghamshire Council in making informed decisions about planning applications within our parish.

As a sustainable settlement, we will be allocated future development sites. Thanks to the Neighbourhood Plan, our community now has greater influence over the type, scale, and impact of new development. This plan will help ensure that housing types and tenures are appropriate for our setting, and that each development brings meaningful community and environmental benefits. Additionally, we will receive 25% of the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy, which will directly support improvements in our parish.

We are grateful to all stakeholders and residents who participated in events and consultations, sharing valuable insights that have shaped the plan. Special thanks go to past and present community members who dedicated themselves to the Steering Group over the past eight years. Through their expertise and local knowledge, they have worked tirelessly to research, formulate policies, and collaborate with Buckinghamshire Council to bring this plan to life.

The Parish Council is confident that the Neighbourhood Plan will bring meaningful benefits to our parish, supporting our goals in housing, environment, traffic, heritage, community facilities, and the local economy.

Memorial Service

Along with remembering villagers and loved ones lost, at the Memorial Service this morning, Drayton Parlsow also welcomed Nick Ellins and Councillor Jilly Jordan to lay wreaths and unveil the new memorial to a crew of seven young men from ‘No. 419 Moose Squadron’ of the Canadian Air Force.  This crew sadly died in a Lancaster which crashed in Drayton Parslow just after 1:30am on 6th March 1945, whilst returning from a mission in Germany.  The youngest man who died was just 19 years old.
Nick brought this to the Parish Council’s attention in 2021 and after correspondence with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Drayton Parslow Parish Council (DPPC) collaborated with Nick and commissioned the memorial.

Thank you to all that attended and contributed to a lovely service.

Highways

The Council are pleased to announce that we have agreed to purchase a new Solar Powered MVAS. We have previously shared use with another local Parish but after some feedback Cllr Wheeler made a strong case for having our own.

The MVAS will be ordered in the new financial year – watch this space!
